A meeting of Indian National Lok Dal’s Panchkula district office bearers and workers was held at the party office in MLA Hostel under the chairmanship of Panchkula in-charge Dr. M S Malik, former DGP, to discuss the Panchkula Municipal Corporation elections.
Names for the mayoral candidate and councilors were considered. Applications were also received for councilors in some wards and for one mayor post. In-charge Dr. Malik said that the Indian National Lok Dal will contest the Panchkula Municipal Corporation elections on its election symbol ‘Spectacles’. Candidates will be fielded for councilor posts in all wards including the mayor.
Only a senior and loyal party worker will be made the mayoral candidate. In wards too, preference will be given to workers willing to contest. District President Satinder Tony and Urban District President Manoj Agarwal said that all applications received till 5 PM on April 19 will be screened, and candidates for all wards and the mayor post will be announced on the 20th. The nomination filing process will begin from the 21st.
A centralized office will be opened from where the entire election will be monitored. Present in the meeting were former Women District President Seema Chaudhary, current Women District President Suresh Chaudhary, Vyapar Cell District President Shittu Rana, Halka President Gurdas, Principal District General Secretary Charan Singh, Principal General Secretary Women Geeta Rani, probable candidate from Ward No. 7 Gurdish, probable candidate from Ward No. 5 Tarun Sahni, Professor Rakesh Goyal, former SP S P Saini, Roshan Lal, Azad Malik, Raju Rana Mauli, Jelly, along with hundreds of workers.
